Petition In Favor Of:

AUTHORIZING CLOSURE OF A PORTION OF 4TH STREET IN CUSTER, WASHINGTON, RELATED TO COVID-19 ECONOMIC RELIEF

We, the citizens of Whatcom County, support the Ordinance proposed by Councilman Elenbaas and Councilman Buchanan authorizing the closure of a portion of 4th Street in Custer, Washington, related to the COVID-19 economic relief. We, the citizens of Whatcom County, believe that a temporary road closure in order for Tonys Tavern to facilitate their ability to run a multigenerational family-owned business is necessary. This ordinance provides Tonys Tavern the ability to set up weather-appropriate outdoor seating while simultaneously providing a safe environment for employees and the citizens of Custer. We, the citizens of Whatcom County, believe this ordinance is within the heart and intent of laws set up to govern such situations, and that the Council members' proposal is approved.

Governor Inslee, with his constantly moving benchmarks, is allowing the Puget Sound and the western region to move to phase 2. Unfortunately, 6 other regions are stuck in phase 1. The data is old. The standards are unpredictable. Governor Inslee is not listening to the people.
